Does Dfense really deactivate my brand spend automatically?
Yes. Dfense operates at the brand keyword level, where unnecessary spend occurs. Dfense checks if a competitor appears on the SERP for each brand keyword. If no competitor is found, the keyword is considered a sole bidder case. In that case, Dfense pauses only that keyword, without touching the rest of the campaign. As soon as a competitor reappears, the keyword is reactivated. You only pay when competition actually exists.
How does Dfense detect competitor presence on my keywords?
Dfense directly observes the Google SERP for each of your brand keywords. For each keyword, the system checks whether a competitor ad appears or not. The logic is simple: competitor ad visible → active competition / no competitor ad → you're the sole bidder. This observation triggers the appropriate action: activate protection when a competitor is present, or cut spend when you're alone.
Can Dfense miss a competitor appearance?
Dfense focuses only on brand keywords that are actually visible in the SERP, to avoid false signals. It ignores areas with no direct impact (like remarketing) and only acts when the situation is clear. A slight latency may exist during a pause or reactivation, but this approach ensures precise actions without overly broad pauses or unnecessary activations.
